Business Cards: Do you know how important they are?

Your business card is often the first impression people get of your business and it can say a lot about you and your company. If you fail to get this right, you could lose business. When you hand out your business card, it is more than likely that the person will not need your service at that particular moment in time, however they may need it at a future date and the more appealing your card the more likely it is to be kept.

One of the first things that will stand out when someone receives your card is the thickness. A cheap and flimsy card will promote a negative view of you and your business. When comparing costs for business card printing, always look for the card weight quoted in gsm (grams per square metre). A good quality card would be in the region of 400gsm and by way of comparison, standard printer paper is around 100gsm. So, when you keep receiving these ’amazing’ offers of free business cards, always check the gsm value and when you have to ’upgrade’ to get a proper card, they are not really free are they!

business cardAlways ensure you get the basic and key information on the card, such as logo, business name, your name and contact details. I am sure one of the things you would want the card recipient to do is visit your website and yet so often on cards the web address is more of an afterthought and just another line of information. Why not make your web address stand out, either in different colours, larger font etc. Finally, if you are active on social media then add your relevant details.

For added impact, why not print on both sides. It is normally a relatively small additional cost.
